The true story of Emily Roebling and the Brooklyn Bridge comes to life.
Emily Roebling: The Woman Who Saved the Brooklyn Bridge
Also written by Mark Violi and derived from the larger ROEBLING script, EMILY ROEBLING: The Woman Who Saved the Brooklyn Bridge is a shorter presentation featuring live-action performances and a multi-media experience.
This show focuses on Emily Roebling and her remarkable contribution to the bridge construction. Following the death of John Roebling and after her husband, Washington Roebling is stricken with caissons disease, it is Emily who surprises the establishment of the day by rising up in defense of her family's dream and saving the construction of the Brooklyn bridge.
Keeping with the true story, EMILY ROEBLING is a 45-60 minute presentation and can optionally include a lively talk-back session with the audience featuring the performers and "Roebling experts". This has become a favorite aspect of our shows. Our audiences always want to know more and share their own Reobling stories.
The ideal show to inspire groups, teams and school audiences everywhere
Although well known in her day, Emily Roebling has since been largely forgotten. This presentation reintroduces Emily and the entire Roebling story to a new audience. We believe this engaging story of an 18th Century woman upsetting all expectations society has cast upon her to be timelessly relevent, especially in light of current STEM (STEM+A) initiatives.
Women serving in engineering fields was completely unheard of in the 1800's. Even now, females are proportialty lacking in many science and engineerring fields. We aim to change that. The Emily Roebling story should serve as an inspiration for girls of all ages and offers compelling themes throughout the humanites from which everyone can gain inspiration.
